PSA – Kony 2012

In college I took a class about making documentaries to highlight social change. The class was ‘eh’, but the idea of using voice, image and videos to get the word out made a lot of sense. This was also in the age before Facebook and social media, so getting the word out was slightly more difficult. Luckily, the two naturally go hand in hand. After years of posting about somewhat asinine issues, it’s awesome to see the world using social media as a tool for change and freedom. Egypt, The Occupy Movement and GMO vs. Organic food movement are a few examples of how the world is using social media for good.

I’m going to ask you to watch a video on YouTube. It’s a sublime example of documentary, using social media, to create lasting change and real solutions. It’s 30 minutes long, but PLEASE watch it. After you watch it, share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, whatever social media site(s) you use. This is about an issue that absolutely cannot be ignored any longer. Do it for the children, seriously.
